If You Have To Sit, You Have To Move!
Research has shown that sitting for more than 8 hours/day with no additional physical activity is similar to that of smoking and obesity in terms of mortality risks. However one hour (60-75 minutes) of physical activity has been shown to eliminate the negative effects of being inactive for 8 hours and decreases mortality risks associated with sitting for long periods. Additionally exercise has been shown to reduce the risks of heart disease, some cancers, type 2 diabetes, and arthritis. If you have to sit throughout the day then you have to be physically active before or at the end of the day!
